You want cold drinks all day at the beach, a night of camping without power, or just freedom on the road. Then the question quickly arises: how long does a compressor cooler actually last on a battery?
The answer depends on a few factors – but with the right setup, you can easily get a full day’s worth.
What determines the duration?
A compressor cooler does not consume the same amount of power all the time. The compressor switches on and off to maintain the set temperature. The harder the cooler has to work, the more power it consumes. These are the most important factors:
Ambient temperature – A cooler in full sun works harder than one in the shade. On a hot summer day, the cooler consumes noticeably more energy.
Set temperature – Cooling at 4°C costs less than freezing at -10°C. Do not set the temperature lower than necessary.
How full the cooler is – A well-filled cooler retains cold better than a half-full one. Pre-chilling your contents at home also helps tremendously.
How often you open the lid – Every time you open the cooler, you lose cold air. Think about what you need ahead of time.
Specifically, how long does a battery charge last?
With the HyCooler Powerpack – the 15,600 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed specifically for the HyCooler Go and Pro coolers – you can achieve up to 24 hours of cooling without a power connection under normal conditions.
That’s enough for:
- A day at the beach or festival
- One night camping or sleeping in the RV
- A long road trip without a stopover
Tips to maximize run time
- Pre-cool your cooler at home on mains power before you leave
- Use eco/night mode – the VarioSpeed compressor in Hyckes coolers automatically reduces the speed, saving up to 50% energy
- Put the cooler in the shade or cover it when not in active use
- Charge the Powerpack while driving via the 12V connection in your car – the battery automatically charges as soon as the cooler is powered up
The Powerpack: always and everywhere independent
The HyCooler Powerpack fits easily into the cooler and is automatically recognized. The display immediately shows charging status and remaining capacity. Charging takes 4 to 8 hours, depending on battery charge and available power.
Want to charge the Powerpack without using the cooler? Then the optional 230V battery charger is the solution.
